AFL: The Rattlers Inside Look
Rattlers Shock Spokane
The Arizona Rattlers, winners of the last 3 arena bowls, started off on the right foot with a 60 – 43 victory over the Spokane Shock last Saturday night in front of 9,455 fans. This was the first game of the season for both teams and the clubs needed to work out some kinks. Yet, the Rattlers, even with some kinks, is a powerhouse team that is so full of talent that even on their worse day can win any game they play. With their high powered offense and punishing defense, the Rattlers took the lead 13 – 7 with 1 minute left in the first quarter and never looked back. The Rattlers biggest lead came at 6:40 of the 3rd quarter, 50 – 27.
Nick Davila, the the AFL MVP from last season, had a respectable game throwing for 246 yards with 4 TD’s. Newcomer WR Chase Deadder had a great first game catching 9 balls for 73 yards and 3 TD’s. He was also voted Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game. Jeremy Kellem continued his impressive play from last year making 9 unassisted tackles, breaking up passes and stripping the ball from a Spokane receiver causing a fumble which was recovered by Kellem, who was also voted Riddell Defensive Player of the Game.
Next Game: April 4th in Las Vegas.
