Derek Jeter Patch to Honor the Captain

Now that September is among us, baseball’s 2014 season is nearing its end. With that being said, it also means Derek Jeter’s career as a ballplayer is coming to a close.

Beginning in September and lasting throughout the remainder of the season, the New York Yankees will wear a final-season logo to commemorate the captain’s many years as a Yankee.

The logo will be worn on the uniforms and hats, and this Sunday is the first time New York will reveal the addition while taking the field. The game will be played at home against the Royals, and is labeled as Derek Jeter Day.

Throughout Major League Baseball, teams have honored Jeter by giving him gifts to celebrate such a successful career. It only makes sense that during Jeter’s final months in pinstripes, he receives praise from the team that’s housed him during the entirety of his career.

As the final member of the Core Four, the end of this season marks the end of an iconic group of athletes.

Farewell Captain.
