King of the Hill: Aaron Hill another cycle
It is a statistic that is not talked about much because of the rarity of its occurrence. Yet, Aaron Hill, not only hit for the cycle only a few weeks ago on Monday, June 18th to become the 5th Dback in their 15 year history to do so, Hill also became the 6th Dback to hit for the cycle last night in a 9 to 3 win against the Milwaukee Brewers and the 294th in baseball history. This incredible feat is so rare that Hill becomes only the fourth player in MLB history to hit for two cycles in the same season. In fact, to further demonstrate this remarkable accomplishment, there has only been 272 no hitters vs 294 cycles.
If this did not create enough excitement last night, Dback first baseman, Paul Goldschmidt had a home run, single and double and was a triple away from hitting the cycle. Yet the night belonged to Hill whose accomplishment of hitting two cycles in one season may not be seen again in this generation.
