MLB: Yankees acquire Ichiro and more tidbits
The New York Yankees have acquired rightfielder Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees will also receive cash considerations in the deal that sends young pitchers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar to the Mariners.
The next week should continue to be busy leading up to the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline. Expect the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins to be extremely active in the selling department. As far as buyers, look for the Los Angeles Dodgers to go all in. The Dodgers don’t have a ton to offer in terms of prospects, but they are more then willing to take back salary in potential moves. Many sellers want to obtain high level prospects, but some also find salary relief valuable and that is what gives the Dodgers an opportunity to upgrade their roster in attempt to get back to the postseason. Don’t be shocked if the Dodgers acquire not only a starting pitcher, but an upgrade at first base and perhaps another arm in the bullpen as well.
