NBA: Suns snap losing streak, Dragic drops 40

Goran Dragic was on a whole different level in last night’s Suns (34-24) 116-104 victory over the Pelicans (23-35), snapping Phoenix’s three game losing streak.

Dragic put up a career-high 40 points on 14-21 shooting. He also dished out five assists on the evening, in what may have been his most well played game of his career.

The Suns trailed 77-67 late in the 3rd quarter, but went on a 14-4 run to close out the quarter to make it a 12 minute showdown.

New Orleans came out firing in the fourth, making their first five shot attempts and regaining a comfortable lead. Phoenix would have nothing of it however and powered back with a 17-1 run including a bank-in three point shot by Dragic.

Phoenix’s bench has been keeping them in ball games as of late and scored a combined 43 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and had 11 assists as a unit.

Anthony Davis put up 32 points and had 9 rebounds in the loss, but played extremely well and was unstoppable from mid-range all game. He would finish shooting 14-18 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.

The win was huge as they gained a full game on Memphis, who lost to Oklahoma City earlier on in the day. The Suns are now 1.5 games ahead of the Grizzlies and will look to build on that advantage when they face Atlanta.

The Suns and Hawks will tip off at 6:00 p.m. MT at US Airways Center on Sunday night.
