NBA: Suns win again behind Gerald Green’s big game

The Suns (35-24) are clicking now after defeating the Atlanta Hawks (26-32) 129-120 on Sunday night for their second consecutive win.

After putting up 40 points in the 1st quarter, the Suns backed it up with 39 points in the 2nd quarter for a season-high 79 point first half.

The Hawks did battle back in the 3rd quarter however, outscoring Phoenix 30-23, however the Suns would put the game away with some clutch free throws late in the game.

Gerald Green put up a game-high 33 points on 5/8 shooting from three-point range in the contest. The team as a whole shot 15/24 on threes.

Jeff Teague dropped a team high 29 points and 9 assists for the Hawks, while Kyle Korver chipped in with 18 points, going 6/7 on threes, extending his NBA record of having at least one three-point shot made to 127 games.

Goran Dragic scored 19 points, along with 8 assists as he continued his brilliant play. The offense wasn’t all Green and Dragic, as the bench unit contributed greatly with 56 points.

Come playoff time it will come down to how well the bench can play and having a top-five scoring bench will prove to be huge.

With the win the Suns are now two full games ahead of Memphis for the final playoff seed in the Western Conference.

The Suns will look to add to their two game winning streak when they welcome Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers to town. Phoenix and Los Angeles will tip off at 7:00 p.m. MT at US Airways Center on Tuesday.
