NHL: Crazy 2 weeks ahead

Let me start things off by congratulating the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, on a terrific playoff run. This was much deserved.

Now we get into the fun times of the NHL offseason. Not seeing hockey is always a minus, but the next 2 weeks figure to be jam packed with the buyout-period beginning Wednesday, the entry-draft on Sunday and free agency kicking off on July 5th.

With the salary cap coming down next season to $64.3 million and an underwhelming free agent market, you can expect to see more trade activity. There should be a fair amount of player movement leading up to the draft (and at the draft as well).

We’ll keep you up to date with all the latest offseason transactions and draft/free agent previews beginning later this week.
