NHL: Hello Brooklyn!
The New York Islanders will announce Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm ET, that they will be moving to Brooklyn in 2015, to play in the new Barclay’s Center, which is also home now of course to the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. The Islanders current lease with the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island expires after the 2014-2015 season.
This move will be great for the sports scene in Brooklyn as the city will have obtained 2 professional sports franchises in a 3 year period. There were many great memories though for the Islanders franchise on Long Island, with many great players, like Mike Bossy and winning four consecutive Stanley Cup’s in the early 1980s. It will be the end of an era of course, but the young Islanders will be ready to contend by 2015 and will begin a new chapter of history in Brooklyn.
