Rattlers lose to the Blaze 62-49
The Arizona Rattlers saw their 7 game winning streak end on Friday night, July 6th, losing to the Utah Blaze 62-49. This was not a typical Rattlers performance. Coach Guy said the Rattlers were not ready to play which was demonstrated by numerous penalties, turnovers and defensive lapses. Rattlers Quarterback Nick Davila was 19 for 35 with 4 TD’s along with 2 interceptions. Despite Davila’s mediocre performance, his 4 TD’s put him in the record books by becoming the 1st quarterback in AFL history to record 3 consecutive 100 TD seasons.
Coach Guy said “there was no rhythm”. The Utah defense had 3 stops and the Rattlers defense had 1 stop.
This sets up a big game next Friday in San Antonio against the Talons who lead the National Conference with a 13-3 record. The Rattlers are 12-4. This game is important for two reasons. The Utah Blaze are 11-5 in second place behind the Rattlers in the National Conference – West Division. The Rattlers beat the Talons earlier in the year and thus with a win, would win the tie breaker should it come down to it.
