Who Will Be Dancing With The Devils Out East?
Before the playoffs began, not many folks outside of the Washington D.C. area new much about, or even who Braden Holtby was. Now they do! The 22 year old netminder has been terrific thus far in the postseason for the Washington Capitals.
Fresh off becoming a dad (Holtby’s fiancee gave birth to a baby boy, Benjamin Hunter Holtby, on Thursday), the young goaltender has a chance to lead the Capitals to the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday night, in the do or die game 7 vs. the New York Rangers.
The Rangers have shown late game heroics in game’s 3 and 5 with overtime victories. Game 5 also featured the Rangers, Brad Richards tying the game late in the 3rd period with less than 10 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Both teams have played splendid defensively, to go along with the great goaltending of Holtby and Vezina Trophy candidate Henrik Lundqvist. Game 7 of this Semi Finals series should be no different. Expect another low scoring affair, and perhaps another overtime nail bitter.
